In the Mid-1970's...
OdorEyes® Technologies, Inc. was founded in the mid-1970’s, based on a technologically advanced concept of injecting odorant into natural gas pipelines designed around proportional to flow measurement, rather than the traditional timed based system. Using an array of counters and timers in conjunction with available flow measurement signals, this company pioneered a more uniform and accountable odorization method for the natural gas industry. From early word of mouth marketing, the company has grown to become a major contributor to a world wide market.
By early 1980, solid state electronics were becoming more widely available and accepted in the natural gas industry. The earlier system of counters, timers and switches was quickly reduced and condensed onto a single electronic circuit board with expanded capabilities and a very bright future.
By 1986 the company again revolutionized the odorization industry by testing and working with the development of a new style pump that would separate the odorant injection chamber from the rest of the pump mechanics. This new and innovative design increased the life of the pump and reduced the potential for leaks and the amount of the familiar pungent smell around the odorizer package. This pump is known as a bellows or diaphragm pump and is still widely used today. The OdorEyes® AccuLine Injection System uses the OdorEyes® BIP Series bellows pump, the latest version of this earlier technology.
A New Vision...
In 1997 we had a new vision for odorization. We wanted to create an odorizer that would have very minimal operating costs and that would not have any fugitive emissions. OdorEyes® designed the electronic pulse bypass odorizer by using the methodology and advantages of the manual bypass odorizer and simply bringing it up to date by making it proportional to gas flow and adding temperature compensation technology. The end result was an innovative system with an odorizer that had no pump to fail, no seals to leak and no moving parts to break. Maintenance was dramatically reduced, and also easier, since all of the working components of the odorizer are simply passing clean, dry gas instead of odorant.
This new odorizer was an instant success, especially in high visibility areas where fugitive emissions are a problem. This system was patented, (US Pat. # 6,142,162) based on a new concept and design and continues to be the most innovative and cleanest odorizer on the market.
OdorEyes® continues to develop and deliver innovative products by always staying on the cutting edge of technology. In 2000 OdorEyes® introduced a new controller for odorization using a touch screen interface to simplify customer interactions with the odorizer. This new controller also introduced PC software for remote communication with the odorizer as well as a full audit trail and alarms log.
